Friends,
It all depends what we are looking for; there are many factors.
Like:
1. Job description
2. Type of Job contract or Full time permanent
3. Company policy/Budget
4. Type of education and from it is attained
In real life many times, I hired person with less education and experience but full of energy to grow & learn. We consider employee with ROI scale developed through organisational culture. Being PMP does not prove that you are really great PM…..
Thanks
it depends on the type of role one has to perform. But more likely preference goes to more qualified person with less experiance than more experianced person with less qualification. Reason behind my arguement is that qualified person be having more knowledge and innovating ideas but a less qualified and experianced person is only good to run the same cycle. For innovative atmosphere and to comply with ever changing and demanding needs of customers, clients and consumer world, more qualified person is prefered. Experience can be gained by training session but not qualification.
As no one can be ideal , so I prefere a person with high degree of adaptability which means that he has high learning capabilities and can adapt him self with different work environment as both experience and qualification can be acquired and improved
Practical hands on experienced persons with suffucient education and more understanding of day to day running of the project can and is a great assett. A manager or supervisor can assist in streamlining the peration, det standards and direct.
Depends of the job category.
Like teachers/designers /admin/hrd personnel requires more qualified than experience.
Like project engineers/technicians/operators/salesman/marketing people requires more experiences than qualification.
I will compare based on who possesses competencies to do the job better. People with good education sometimes fail to deliver..
I would do behavioral based interview for both and analyze the interview results who matches the best for the job then make the decision accordingly...
When we are talking about a particular job, that means we are perusing a particular result. And for particular jobs we exert to achieve a particular purpose.
In my point of view, I would prefer the lesser qualified with higher experience. Because at this situation I am result oriented.
Qualification and experience are both the modes of learning which result into performance. The actual skill is to apply your learnigs into actual scenarios
You need a mix of both
Experience is the best teacher and on the job experiences are generally not forgotten. But this applies more to those with an open mind who are willing to learn new things everyday without their egos coming in the way.
The problem with experience is ego builds up along.
Youth with qualifications meanwhile bring new ideas and insights. This is always needed, more so in the new age. Change is the only constant.
So a good team would consist of an experienced, OPEN MINDED manager as a mentor guiding a team of qualified personnel. The manager too needs to keep learning from them to keep pace with them.
As long as there is an air of openness, trust and listening culture with a will to learn and improve, the team will do well
It's actually depend on the required tasks and deliverable expected for example if we want to have a person who will work in creating solutions than the experience is the key but if it's daily tasks with no risk involved in the preforming of those tasks than the education is sufficient to play that role, but in general i think the experience is more valued than the experience and it's clear in any job interview as the main question is what is your experience and how to apply that in your new job.
