Goals are generic, objectives are specific Goals are open-ended statement, objectives are concrete Goals are not measurable, objective are measurable.
Goals are inputs to startegic plan.
Goals are typically long-term aims of an organization. Goals are more general and less structured than objectives. Generally, a goal is more of an abstract idea that a person or company works toward achieving, such as "provide good customer service" or "put people above profits." Goals are ongoing procedures that are never completed.
Objectives are specific actions that must be taken to achieve desired outcomes. Objectives are generally outlined into steps or actions, and often include deadlines and budget limitations.
A major difference between goals and objectives is their measurability. Because goals are more like ideals, they don't have specific actions that can be measured -- such as "safety is our priority."
Objectives result in specific outcomes that can be directly measured, such as profits, productivity and employee retention. They are specific steps that can be checked off a list, and can be monitored for their completeness.
Usually goals are regarded as the input to strategic plans..
Goals and Objectives are similar in that they describe the intended purposes and expected results of activities and establish the foundation for assessment.
Goals are statements about general aims or purposes of matter that are broad, long-range intended outcomes and concepts;
Objectives are brief, clear statements that describe the desired outcomes of instruction;
objective is a measurable step you take to achieve a strategy
A goal defines the direction and destination, but the road to get there is accomplished by a series of objectives.
Objectives are regarded as inputs to Strategic Plan
The objective reflects the limited period of time in order to get it
The goal expresses of the long time we can reach it, so I belive that the objective is the most important element in the strategic plan.
Hi,
What we want to achieve (Goal): Respond to changes while maximizing value and reducing incidents
How we want to achieve (Objective): Ensure that changes are processed in a controlled manner.
also there is the:
Why implement the process (Purpose): Ensure that risk is optimized.
objective is a step you must take to achieve a strategy.

Best Regards,
These2 terms are used interhangably and there is some level of overlap between their meaning, hence this is the reason of confusion I may say my objective is to win the next football match, and I may say my goal is to win the next football match !
Both expressions (objective and goal) indicate something to be achieved or reached. However, when someone wins the match and socres ... we say he scored3 goals and NOT3 objectives
To me, this means that GOALS are more speific, and objectives are more generic
Hence, comes the term "Smart Objectives" to mean "goals" more or less . SMART : Specific, measurable, achievable/actionable, real and timely To me, this confirms my approach to the whole topic
Furthermore, I take OBJECTIVES as statements derived directly from the mission/vision statements. and they remain more or less the same for very long time However, it is possible to identify short-term goals, medium-term goals, and long-term goals
and these are (will be) consumed as time passes by and as these goals are achieved/reached
an objective starts only, with one of the words "Minimize" or "Maximize". These words relate a value to a benchmark or reference value.
a goal can start with any verb: "assure", "dynamize", "support" etc. this normally leads to a multiobjective problem.
An objective is normally related with operations research hence the planning horizon is in the short term.
A goal can be used in long term results since it has uncertainty associated with.
OBJECTIVES are outer sketch of your dreams & desires ........ GOALS are specific and more accurate depiction of your dreams in practical shape,,, goals can be seen or visualised.........TARGETS are the real life goals which has to be achieved but WITH SPECIFIC GIVEN TIME PERIOD.......
