Unload the bundle separately on timber pieces or bricks avoiding the bars touching the ground.
Prevent from wind, rain & other natural factors by covering it properly after use.
Epoxy coating is also another method.

Before fixing of steel, give a caot of Anti rusting agent to steel bars which is avaliable in market, that anti rusting agent will protect it from rusting, also it has a booklet when u will parchase it, in that booklet u will find out its method of use. That is the best way to protect steel from rusting and I have also adopted this method on site.
