Which ratio is better for investment either Earning per share (EPS) or Price earning ratio (P/E)?

in Most cases new investments will go to an Erning pershare (EPS) as market spread will be needed for better sales projections and results and to assure market presence,in some cases and depending on the products and or investment type Price earning ration may be a better aplication as investors can be limited and restricted to a niche.
