Window dressing is the action taken or not taken in order to improve the appearance of financial statements.

For me window dressing is manipulating the actual position or results of the company to reflect and show a better position. It can be falsifying the records or using policies in a way that create a favorable impression. The information created is generally misleading and non factual.
