quit :)

This is the kind of character that you can't communicate with or try to change or try to find a way to coexist with.  If you can't quit then you have to train yourself to accept him as is.  If you are the kind of person who can make him think that you are doing as he demands and that you admire his knowledge when in fact you are doing what you see is right then you will survive.  My choice is quit.

Usually it happens if the manager is either a relative or influential person from business owners. In such cases, there is two choices for you either to accept him as your boss or leave the job if you dont think you cannot adjust in the environment.

Sometimes it happens that someone joins during startup days and got promoted, and then they hired a senior person to work under him.  In such cases, if this manager though he is less experienced and less knowledgeable than the senior person, if he wants to succeed then he will make this senior person realize his role in the team and company and provide him opportunities to succeed as well as recognized for his achievements...

Move on, and regard it as a Learning Experience. Never talk ill of your former boss to any of your future interviewers or future employers. And strive to do better in your succeeding work force.

Non qualified or poor experienced manager may be met but the best deal is to follow and not to conflict with him as possible to feel cool, then explain that there is another way to do the work to transmot the knowledge to him. He may convinced or not. Then you have to follow back again.

Yes, people like that can not only be found in managerial roles, but in every walk of life. I do not agree that quitting is the rational solution here, because let's face it; people as such can always pop-up no matter where you go, so better is to learn how to deal and cope with them. First, you need to earn their trust and be on their good side. Then of course there will come the time of conflicting opinions and/or interests; at such time a wise strategy is to avoid any direct confrontation, but rather to try and convey your opinion as subtle as possible, and let them be convinced that they came up with your idea on their own. In plain cruel text; try some "Mind Control" so that they make their free decisions and draw their own conclusion based on your thinking process. And maybe it would not hurt to allow them to make a mistake or two every now and then, so that they would kind of know where they are standing. Do not expect them to admit their mistakes at any point though!
