Primates functions of the organization The main objective of the organization is to produce products and services that meet the needs of customers. Based on the above definition, we can distinguish three chief functions of the organization: Marketing and sales, ie to recognize existing and creating new customer needs and providing products to reach customers; operational management, ie the production of products and provision of services; Accounting and Finance, which is the collection of financial information and financial management The definition of operational management Operational management is a function responsible for all activities relating to the manufacture of the product, which can be both good and services; operational management is responsible therefore for: gathering the various components of the input, processing of final products. This very broad definition indicates a vast range of operational management, including elements such as resources and planning, organizing, allocating resources, etc. The tasks manager The main task manager, regardless of the area in which they work, are: 1.Planowanie - setting objectives and methods and deadlines to achieve them; 2.Organizowanie - build the best structures to achieve its objectives; 3.Zatrudnianie - ensuring adequate staff to perform assigned tasks; 4.Zarządzanie - assigning tasks to employees; 5.Motywowanie - encouraging employees to the good performance of assigned tasks; 6.Alokowanie - assigning resources to the work; 7.Monitorowanie - current checking whether processes lead to specific goals; 8.Kontrola - taking corrective action; 9.Informowanie - notification about the progress of the organization. Process definition of operational management Defining concepts by defining what and in what order is executed, we define as the recognition process. Management is thus to solve problems within the following process: 1.Obserwowanie - awareness of the problem; 2.Formułowanie - identify the problem and the construction of his model; 3.Analizowanie - the incidence of parameters and alternatives, the decision on the selection of a particular solution; 4.Zastosowanie - take the final decision, the implementation of solutions and control results. Actions in the provision of services Operational management is applicable in both the service and production. Despite significant differences between material goods and services management processes operating in these areas have much in common. The development of this issue, see the manual on page46 Few products are only material form and few services are completely devoid of physical emanations. Different views on the operational management Operational management is perceived in different ways. You can treat it as a profession, as evidenced by appearing more and more frequently, even in the Polish press, the notice of employment. You can treat the operational management as a way of solving problems, or even - as is the case in grotesque paintings of Quentin Tarantino - as an orderly way of life, or treated as a decision-making tool in certain areas of human activity. Principles of forming the basis of operational management: 1 Determine the problem 2.przeanalizuj available resources to solve it, 3.określ solution 4.Made decisions, are reflected in many areas of life, including the American Armed Forces, which use the principle of "Think, improvise, strike, conquer." Examples The later in the chapter examples of companies are complementary descriptions of the cases listed in the manual. The presentation of additional case studies is to update the descriptions contained in this manual, as well as the presentation of Polish companies closer to the reader. Tips for the teacher In the second chapter, pay attention to: 1.The Basic functions of the organization, including the operational management of the place; 2.Basic managerial tasks; 3.Cechy common and differences in operational management in the sphere of production and services; 4.Procesową definition of operational management.

Operations management can be defined as, “the process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling the production or services right from the manufacturing to the supply chain management issues.” It is clear from the definition that, like all the other necessary functions of an organization including research and development, finance, marketing, human resource management, operations management is also crucial for the success of a company .

Operations Management explores the way organizations produce and distribute goods and services. Operations management plays a vital role in the success of any organization. It is the area of management which is concerned with creation of all the products and services of a company.

Any business that produces something, whether tangible or not, must use resources to do so, and so must have an operations activity.

All types of organisation must ‘do’ operations management because all organisations produce some mixture of products and services. Remember though that in many organisations the term ‘operations management’ will not be used. In many smaller organisations operations management may be done by people who perform many other types of task such as marketing and accounting.

Operations management is important. The decisions it makes have a major impact on both the cost of producing products or services and how well the products and services are produced and delivered which has a major impact on the revenue coming into the organisation. So, operations management has an important impact on both revenue and cost and therefore profits. This also applies to not-for-profit organisations. In a local government service, for example, good operations management can produce services which satisfy the community and are produced efficiently. So the community are getting value for money from their local services.

Because everybody in a business is being "busy", operating something, from the reception desk to the office manager, next to the sales department, beside the customer service call-centre, up to the boardroom or down to the work floor or the main factory were manufacture/creation/delivery operations take place.
