I don't think i agree with this statement but for illustration purposes i will agree with you even though in the middle east many other brands were so popular and Still are like Pepsi and many others, people in jordan for example still enter a super market asking for pepsi even the meant Coca Cola or any other carbonized drink.
From my own experience i believe what has helped Coca Cola and Pepsi in the Middle East when first introduced (pepsi was introduced years before coca cola due to the ban on Coca Cola products in the middle east due to political reasons),what has really contributed to the popularity of these brands is the need in the middle east for a new drink that is different from other local drinks.
they have entered virgin markets where blue ocean strategy prevailed, the only competItor those days were few such as Crush and salute which were inferior quality wise.
My point is many other factors contributed to such success .it wasn't only their smart marketing campaigns, also these companies were introduced as local companies manufacturing foreign drinks were local workforce was utilized which gave them the push they needed to be accepted .
It speaks volumes for a brand which has been marketed so aptly that it has survived till date and grown in stature
Google. (According to my opinion.)
Socially : Oh God.
We live in a "crazy"world !!
The brand Coca Cola is associated with the word OPEN HAPPINESS, what else will come in mind !!!
As per my opinion, coca cola is not definitely the second word after hello that is most recognized by people. Here in beirut pepsi is more dominant. As per my follow up, it has been long time that coca cola broadcasted even ads on lebanese tv stations. Even pepsi is the one sponsoring major events in lebanon.
No word can be dominant instead we can find millions of word. many people and i am one of them think google or microsoft, or ipad. Things in our world today can never be stable. For example people today suddenly repeat one word on all social media and on tv which is selfie. then recently the ice bucket challenge.
bottom line, media is the one responsible to brainwash consumers to repeat on have a certain brand more important or has a priority.
Marketing is a science and it has its own mathematics and theories . Coca Cola does not only apply the rules of marketing , but also he is the "trendsetter" and first runner . It's never a following position . In Coca Cola neuromarketing is being applied all over the world and this is one of the real reasons of being a "top of mind" brand in its category. A brand who aims to be top of mind must occupy a position of "uniqueness" in consumers minds just like Coca Cola . But it demands an extreme amount of investment to be consistently done to the brand ..
I echo with Mr. Alamgeer Hussain Hashmi.
