Yes.
just an example I quote : In the Farming Sector: Mainly emlpyees are paid on the basis of time of work they involved.(similar cases........many) There will be a fixed rate applicable to all employees/workers of a particular class. But necessity arises, some need be paid extra for their proven efficiency to retain them in work for longer and there are chances that they may be influed by external forces with higher payments. In order to avoid migration of work...performance incentives are more important. Mainly jobs of temporary in nature coming under this catergory for performance incentives.
Other types of performance incentives on a scientific basis--I am also waiting for right/good answers from Experts.
PIP - (Performance Improvement Plan) is a terminology used for under performers. In India especially in MNC's there is no incentive or reward for under performers - either they have to be coached and mentored for raising their performance level or should be moved out.
"performance improvement" is a generic term. I assume here it refers to "UNDER performance" situation of an individual..................the answer from me is NO.
Purpose of an INCENTIVE is for an achievement that connects to a "direct business result or associated result". Scaling up an individual's performance to meet/cross a "minimum standard" of an organisation cannot seek an incentive. Infact, the period spent for performance improvement is a LOSS to organisation (productive hours).
