Leadership has nothing to do with seniority or one’s position in the hierarchy of a company. Too many talk about a company’s leadership referring to the senior most executives in the organization. They are just that, senior executives. Leadership doesn’t automatically happen when you reach a certain pay grade. Hopefully you find it there, but there are no guarantees.
Leadership has nothing to do with titles. Similar to the point above, just because you have a C-level title, doesn’t automatically make you a “leader.” In all of my talks I stress the fact that you don’t need a title to lead. In fact, you can be a leader in your place of worship, your neighborhood, in your family, all without having a title.
Leadership has nothing to do with personal attributes. Say the word “leader” and most people thing of a domineering,. But leadership isn’t an adjective. We don’t need extroverted charismatic traits to practice leadership. And those with charisma don’t automatically lead.
Leadership isn’t management. This is the big one. Leadership and management are not synonymous. You have15 people in your downline and P&L responsibility? Good for you, hopefully you are a good manager. Good management is needed. Managers need to plan, measure, monitor, lead people.
So, again, what is Leadership?.
The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers.Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.
A Leader Can Deal any Situation--But a Dealer cannot lead all situations
A leader has built-in Capacity to influence the Mass. Some positive instinct will always lead hiim in the right direction, how much educated he is not a matter--he will make good all his negatives--will find an appropriate way to turn the negative ( x -) = +ve.
I disagree on this one.
If leadership was only measured by our random influence on the life of others, then we may as well ALL be leaders, since we always influence other lives to some degree, through our social being.
In my opinion leadership in general, whether good or bad (to stay within your generic question wording) is mainly concerned with the power to persuade others to follow what YOU do, say or believe in. There were always good and bad leaders, who shared the "leader" label, and who led others through charisma, eloquence, identification, power, love, hate, fear and/or deception.
Leadership is not just for the execs in the corner office. at every stage it's like thinking proactively, taking responsibility and excel in work. This is the leadership

Leadership is to build up new leaders in the team to continue the chain of striving. the subordinates will continue the success of the teamwork.
It is not only to catch the leadership position to prove that you have one man show, but the leadership is influenced by the team who you are boosting up.
It is a very specific critical relationship between the leader and his team to point on the key persons and way of success looking for the way of continuation to progress.
TheTitle or Position can be justified for a Leader only if leader is able to set examples,lead from the front and Influence others to follow.Thus a True Leader is One who Goes the Way First and then Shows the Way to Others.

Leadership is about Titles and position in some segments like Armed forces and politics; but coming back to our social segment like business it is certainly the "lead by example”, inspire with fast and calculated decision making capabilities, taking the responsibility for failures yet giving the credit for success to the team members. People down the line perform with zeal, fear failure because of the respect they have for the leader. Certainly one life influences many and a good leader ensures that his followers do become leaders in their own right. Hope I am correct in my analysis.

Leadership has always been a very attractive subject for discussions. So, I am happy to give my views as below:
How can we say that Leadership is not about titles or positions AND ALSO how can we say that it is all about the titles or positions. I do not have any base to say on these two situations but I agree with you that it is about to influcence other's life, infact I STRONGLY SAY, leadership is only about the influcence to other's life.
A leader is the entity which has the ability to manage himself only, to command himself only, to strech himself only beyond the limits and the persons who join him comes with their own decisions and if they think that the leader is right.
So the experience and ability to manage self and than others makes a man leader. We have seen Hitler was also a leader but what happend, today we know him as the killer but do have been able to see the love for his motherland, the innovations in the technologies. No, Hitler was also a great innovator.
So what I think that, let the almighty god be our leader and we shall do our work as per his teachings and at the end we will die with peace at least.
