To tell you the truth, I 've hesitated over a long period of time to raise this question. Even, after typing it and reaching the point of clickiing "Submit Question," I used to erase it time after time. But then I thought what is more important than knowing what stands between us and getting employed. I would like to know about your experience and thoughts on this, but here is mine: I am55 years of age, an early retiree, and therefore, not allowed to work in my country. I have considerable skills, knowledge, and abilities in human resources, hospital administration, accounting, auditing, and others (you can see my profile on this job board). I applied to jobs in the fields I mentioned in the Gulf Countries and others. What irritates, annoys, and frustrates me is the fact that I've been getting no replies to my applications (since May2010) even though I've done every thing immaginable. Why? What is wrong? Do employers assume that I would ask for too much? Is it my age? Or is it due to having diverse qualifications and experience, and employers prefer somebody with one specialty only? Or what is it? Please, share me your thoughts.

well if you ask me why i am in bayt i will simply tell you that this is the only social media that i can handle talking to respective and knowledgeable people and exchanging of ideas, i can't use facebook or twitter due to a lot of insolenceof the users and also every one dose what he likes if updating a porn pics or else. But i know that no one can get a job trough bayt because i have already done my research they only update the dates of jobs but there is no such thing as unfilled posts or new jobs ,no one can find a job through bayt even if you stay in bayt for10 years do you really believe that in Bahrain there is (119) jobs and in Egypt (523) jobs,Jordan (346) jobs, Kuwait (609) jobsLebanon (226) jobs, Oman (115) jobsQatar (1326) jobs, Saudi Arabia (2306) jobs UAE (3789) jobs and still no one says that they got a job through bayt and a lot of members are jobless i advice people not to leave bayt because bayt help us a lot for example it is easy getting business advice for free from the expertise and exchanging of ideas where can you get such a thing like this.
What I don't understand is that when i am in top10% vis a vis CV rank in so many applications, how come my CV does not even get viewed? Are the employers not taking bayt.com applicatns seriously?

I think its both your age, and that the employers assume you'll ask for much regarding your vast knowledge and experienc. I have a friend, she has been working as head of lanaguges department for a compnay that specialized in translations and preparing educational materials more that10 years. She decided to change her job and looking for a better opportunity, so she applied to serveal jobs and they applogized that she is over qualified!! I think the market now appeals to hire fresh or juniors mostly, because they won't ask for much.
If you who is completed with all such qualifications and experiences face this issue, then what about me?? :D

I applaud your daring question, Hanna. It's a matter of (un)professionalism that doesn't always value or reflect on your professionalism. Be at ease and don't lose hope.
I have been actively applying during the first months and I did get a few replies (about8% replied), some positive but vague, others negative for either realistic reasons or simply artificial reasons. Then I paused my applications for some private business. I also sensed that I needed to re-acquaint myself with the (often) totally different business recruitment culture in The Middle East compared to Europe for instance. Just small tiny differences that make all the difference.
Replying to applications whether approved or rejected is a matter of decency that can even be automated if it can't be personalized for practicality reasons. It's a reflection of the hiring company, its policies or its managers in charge. Employers in the Middle East indeed do seem to view candidates as "less" or "needy" and as such need no decent treatment. I've been working since my18th in the Netherlands and I can say confidently that in90% of all applications, whether a full-time or a lousy student job, I got a reply (sometimes via a phone call and not only an email). It's a different culture where (prospectus) employees generally seem to have less rights and respect, no need to conceal this truth.
What worries me most is that even foreign international recruitment agencies seem to go with what's customary in their country of location and neglect replying. I remember rejecting what seemed like a lucrative opportunity for the weird unprofessional negotiation & hiring procedures (with no clear job ad, but personal approaching). It was hospitality company that claimed not to cover accommodation (how hospitable is that?)
This may become demotivating but DO NOT despair just yet. Your competence does not have to do with the number of replies you get. And from I can read, there is nothing wrong with that. Think of it as employers missing out on you, than the other way around.
The reasons in your case maybe contained in your question, but I it's also related to other reasons mentioned here. I can add some other reasons here.

@Job seeker, thank you for your question. Now we know that the job sector right now is shrinking and that it is very competitive, but my suggestion to you is not to give up applying, and here are some tips i think you should try:
1. Understand what the prospective employer is looking for and highlight on your c.v specific attributes that would attract them.
2. Revise your prospective pay range, maybe you are asking for too much.
3. Broaden your spectrum of jobs, for instance is you have only been applying for managerial positions, try applying for entry level jobs chances are within a few months you might be promoted within the firm to the position you had wanted.
4. Try applying to different countries, dont be afraid of change, it could suprise you what change of environment can do for you.
5. Lastly i encourage you to keep applying and staying positive no matter how fustrating it may be.
1. It reflects the professionality of companies in the recruiting process. Unfortunately, when a vacancy comes up and after receiving a large number of applications, companies forget that they need an employee, they look at it as ALL those applicants need the company, so a kind of Master-Slave look. Unfortunately this is a common culture with companies in the Middle East, mainly the GCC
2. There are some recruiting companies/ sites use fake-applications to enlarge their database. The more CV's they collect, the more professional status they get when talking to employers.
With professional companies, it is not enough to send a confirmation of receiving your application, they always send you a message about the outcome of your application. May some use automatically generated messages, but at least you know when to look further.
Actually, the appliants look at the situation from their perspective and employers look from their perspective.
Employers are normally screening job applications and CVs to match qualifications of the applicant with what they expect or require from an idea candidatte.
Practically speaking if there is a vacancy in any organization and more than thousand appliantions for the same job, they definitely can not hire all of them for one position. Therefore, only one applicant is succesful and more than thousand get no result.
Inspite of the fact the applicant has to keep on trying and applying for job matching his qualifications and experience to get better results.
This is a major problem in Hr that needs to be addressed , many organisations do not feel the responsibilty to conclude the whole recruitment process once they have found the candidate. It is only best practice to give feedback to those who apply even if they are not the best fit
