A job ad doesn't describe a real professional. It describes a fictional unrealistic ideal that companies don’t really expect to find. True or False?

True to a large extent. For the sake of fixing selection parameters it is mostly done but it is not stuck to as response compels to be realistic.

Job ads are covering the whole aspect of a job position which is required within the concern professional. Even companies know it’s hard to find100% the concern person but what they can do more than this that’s why they spread the ad on every possible way.  A job ad is not the final selection answer that will choose the same person which is written in the ad but the advertisement main object is to publish the company main job demands which should be fulfilled. Now candidates who find themselves in the given limits start applying and the main purpose and object of an advertisement is achieved when the company find a suitable professional related to the concern post.  At the end I will say best of luck for the job advertised company and selected professional to achieve best results for which they publish their ad.

Openly speaking this is the real truth in80% cases....Perhaps this may be one of the reasons why right candidates are not being selected for the right post.

Here it is (conveniently) ignored to focus on Candidate's  capacity to think creatively.

(....I mean more emphasis is given on drafting capabilities than the real requirement for the job)

I agree with you.

1. Job ads cost allot of money, so let the job description be worth.

2. Employers know for sure, whatever they put in the requirements they will get more than enough applications from which they can make their selection.

3. There are many job seekers who will apply no matter if they completely match the requirement or not, so setting higher requirements will filter those who are far from matching the requirement. For example:

If the need some on who has at least5 years of experience, and they put that in the job ad, job seekers with1 or2 years will also apply. But if they but in the ad that10 years is required, those job seekers with1 or2 years will be filtered out. So it is a kind of negotiation: ask for more to get what you really want.

Hi

A job advt is an idealistic profile of the person - or rather an all rounder who in terms of the game of soccer should be a striker a midfielder sometimes in central defence at times & if required be play in any position

As there are a number of jobseekers its only the funneling process - however as we search with key words the real skills gets missed if not appropriately documented in the JD - however agree with you & urge all recruiters to spend some time in going thru the CV to identify what they are exactly looking for to fin the position fit

Thanks & Regards
