The role of CPM (Cost and progress manager) in prject managements is mainly:
1- Provide the cost overview through out the project life indicating trends of cost overrun or underrun. This is dicsussed with the PM to take actions.
2- Keep tracking of PO (purchase order) for material or services for the same purpose.
3- For the progress part, provide overview of actual implementation (either with respect to time or with respect to cost). This helps with the KPIs (Key performance indicators) such as planning accuracy, rollout accuracy, supply demand planning, etc...
