Yes, but vary the action of a special assessment of performance monitoring employee performance at work, which is part of the performance management 

As for performance management strategy of the company is interested in any assessment of the employee - departments - the company ... etc. to see the seriousness or usefulness of the findings of the company

Performance Management is a continuous approach of reviews with one or more formal reviews, it is also flexible and comprehensive with less ratings and less documentation being done, it is also not often linked to pay as it is normally being owned by line managers for the management of organizations, teams and individuals.

 

Performance appraisal will involve a lot of ratings and complex paperworks, quantified objectives, and documentation, it is owned by the HR department and it is a top-down assessment that involves the managers in rating the performance of their subordinates at an annual performance appraisal meeting
