In some countries low-status jobs, like "garbage collection", have a high-pay. Would you do such job if it pays 100% more than your "degree job"?

I have respect for all jobs. Nobody is better than the rest as long as you try to take your responsibility towards the community and be effective and as long as your are trying get it better in a legal way.

I won't do it, not because it is under my value, but because I know that I have capacities that can be more beneficial to the community in another position than collecting garbage.

If my life circumstances are not financially good and it's good money( and I have to care about my kid, family) I would do it temporally..any job. But it's not mean I don't follow my dream,  my talent, my specialty and my best opportunity. It's just life and  I am real and it's a good lesson and a good experience. Everything can happen with everyone, Why not?

Absolutely "NOT". In my opinion, salary is definitely a major part of a job, however, switching a field of interest just for money completely nullifies doing a degree course and the whole idea behind it. A majority of population choose their degree courses as per the statistics and success stories of a few communities/people instead of their own interest and their targeted goal of life. This certainly will affect future development and technology if many people leave their specialized fields and switch to some other jobs just for the sake of higher salary. Besides, you just need to be the BEST in your field, money and success will always follow.

I don't understand why most of the people in this post have perceived this question in a completely opposite direction by writing about the status and dignity. If a person "LEAVES" his specialization (Field of Interest) just for the sake of money, that itself signifies his lack of interest and failure to establish in his/her own field of interest/specialization. Its obvious that a person will do any kind of job in the conditions of extreme financial deficit. So, Lets rephrase this question a bit to convey the message of the questioner. "If you are currently getting $100,000/month in your field of interest (degree job, working as a manager etc), will you work as a garbage man if your salary is doubled?"

All jobs are prestigious. I do not calculte such way because it depends on people mind and satisfaction. If anyone satisfy to do lower type of job, I salute them.

There is always a pleasure in doing a job what we have learned. Money is not a consideration. Of course, money plays a marginal role...But doing any job is dignified one.

if i am financially not sound  , i will do it hands down

if i am inclined to do social service , i will do this job 

the point is  motivativation here ,  irrespective of what the profile is , if you have sufficent motivation for doing it , go for it 

It is important to me to feel satisfied and feel that I am making a significant change in the organization, and the community, despite the status of the job.

No , I can never ever do that . I do respect garbage collectors but the point is that I have not been produced for this role . Since my childhood I have learnt3 languages , I had MBA degrees etc . So I'm not a person to work physically . I m not a rich person by family , I have always studied and worked so hard to achieve my goals and all these efforts were not  for being garbage collector . Money is not a priority to me , I only consider the status and the authority level of the position .  In an acceptable economical order , everybody should be in the right place . 

My perception is different in this issue. Degree achieved must be utilised in due related jobs. Garbage collection job if taken by Degree holder then what will happen to those who is dependent on this jobs?

Skills earned must be best utilised.

I have respect all jobs and I  did a lot of different jobs in my student life like working for Mac Donald or being a cleaning lady.  However for me it is really important to like what I do. I really like my current job and even if I have not a high salary I do not want to change it.
