Some people who happen to be illiterate but financially capable to own a PC, laptop, a smart-phone or a tablet, can still intuitively use certain IMAGE-BASED social networks (with the help of children for instance) like Pinterest or Instagram or even social gaming networks, where their illiteracy would be less of a barrier.

I do not think so. Global literacy is as it is. The usage of social networking tools for marketing / sales has neither increased it nor decreased it. As far as I know, the global literacy is still below30 per cent. And there is no chance of it being much higher in the near future.
