If the brand is not a very huge one having not so high media budgets or if I want to simply create brand awareness - I would go for Digital Media, the reason; it's cheap, reliable and accurate in terms of getting the right target audiences. Without spending much, I can create a correct brand awareness towards my target audiences.
But yes, in the process, i would not forget that I can not ignore the traditional mediums of advertising, they might be expensive but the are the once who really generate sales in the long run!
well, it depends of your target audience you can plan your TTL campaign, may you will use all of them or only one. for example: large number of teens are not using newspaper or watching TV.

it is not a matter of what I prefer, what matters is what is the best media to advertise that product or service, and the how the community deals with every media. It depends on who we are going to target, the age, the education, community, and need for this product or service.
I would say internet, because all types of people are there and all the ages. You can simply target your audience by age, sex or even interests. Because you can spread your message with sharing, by yourself or even your fans. Because all the means on the internet you can use from your own website to the search engines and even blogs and social media.
Every campaign, message, target market, objective etc will dictate a different requirement when it comes to media. There is no simple one-size-fits-all approach to media usage. Rather it requires an in-depth knowledge of both the challenge at hand as well as the strengths and weaknesses of all the media options to make an informed choice.
