How can architects enrich their architectural background?

Hello Laila, how are you? Besides what was advised by Ahmad,you will enrich your background by:
1- Working and building up your experience through learning.
Everyday you add to your architectural background.
2- Site visits.
It's true that you learn from sketching, designing, and drawing.
But a professional architect needs to be a well detail former.
You can learn details while building a project, so you observe and sketch, you can even ask questions about those details.
3- Take photos for buildings that are considered to be master pieces in your city " not necessary famous buildings" while you are walking or you are having a ride in your car, stop and then it's your choice either to sketch it if you have space of time or just take a photo to your preferable part of the building.
" I used to do so, and believe me it sure added to my background a lot, besides having fun.
4- Keep attending all conferences and seminars related to your subject "architecture" as much as you can, this's also a good way to add to your background plus you will be able to get to know other architects and communicate with them.
5- View architectural and construction programs that are presented on some of TV channels
6- Some times a beautiful design appears in a scene of a movie or even a video clip of a song, so pay attention to such thing if you are already watching what so ever.7-Finally keep reading, and keep your self updated through all available means.

Hi there, Reading a lot of magazines, when having a crazy idea about architecture, try to see if it was already built or created, you will never know when you will find even more crazy ideas for you.
Watch architecture old movies, like Mon Oncle from1952 by Jacques Tati.
A comedy centered on mimics but at same time it gives you a perspective of the1952 architecture habits and costumes.
for architects this movie is important to learn old ways of thinking and building.
Go out to new places, look deeply and try to think what the architect tried to do on that space...you will get some funny answers or questions!

in summary, for me, we must be curious and attentive, searching, following, reading.
take the good things which we need, and every architect is an artist, has own principles and ideas.

1- Watching Architectural Magazines to know about the new updates in this field .
2- Reading Architectural books specially the new ones , that will make you know about the famous Architects works .
3- Log into the famous Architectural sites like Archdaily , American Institute of Architects, Architectural Record, architecture.com ........
and etc .
4- Search for the new architectural competitions.
That is not all but it is good to start and you will get more knowledge and information about Architecture .

In my opinion, the world that we respond to is the largest source of inspiration. Therefore, I think it’s important to have a background in different fields, such as: art, history, fashion, languages, music, environment, ecosystems and other industries— the more diverse one’s interests are, the more relevant one’s work becomes. 

In addition to that, each project you work on, offers you the chance to immerse one’s self into a new place, a new set of circumstance, a new set of challenges, and, of course, to get inspired by new people. 

This continuous path-process limits repetition and encourages innovation.

The most important factors that increase the background architecture is to work with great team work

You can enrich your architectural background by reading magazines, searching for architectural projects, you can follow the architects' works.

Hello, I am not an architect but I think that "Louis Sullivan" principle "Form Follows Function" proved to be lacking many things and caused a serious twist in the way others perceive beauty in general .. So avoid it for better inspiration.
