Cooling tower being an evaporative devise that uses air to cool the re-circulating water in a cooling tower are generally located in open space. However, the same may be installed within an enclosure on ground or under ground provided the followig points are taken into consideration.
1. Adequate provision should be made for supply of fresh ambient air, through a suitable opening or air should be supplied through a fan. The air volume should be at least equel to the air volume being handled by the cooling tower fan.
2. The hot humid air from the cooling tower discharge has to be removed through an suitable opening or has to be extracted from the enclosure byusing a suitable fan. The air volume again should be little on the higher side as compared to the air volume handled by the cooling tower fan. This will minimise or prevent the re-circulation effect and also reduce te tower fouling factor.
There are instances where the cooling towers are kept out of sight by installing them within suitable enclosures that helps in noise reduction but at the same time allows adequate ambient air flowto the tower.
Best Answer: No, a cooling tower needs fresh air all the time to work. A cooling tower uses the evaporation of some of the water into the atmosphere to cool the rest of the water as it falls from the top down to the basin. In a closed building the air would become saturated and then the tower would no longer work effectively.
we can installed but it will be costly & required more arrangement to make air in-out. through the duct we can separate the inlet & out let air of c/t. but economically, its installation is best in open air at roof.
attached is a closed curcuit cooling tower . the question did you have space for that.
no no cooling towers only use in open envirment
