I BELIEVE FOR THE EMPLOYER SIDE IT IS GETTING THE LONG TERM COMMITMENT FROM AN EMPLOYEE AND THE COST SAVING ASSOCIATED WITH RECRUITING OF A NEW EMPLOYEE EVERY YEAR OR TWO IN ADDITION TO SAVING ON TRAINING OF THIS NEW EMPLOYEE.DISADVANTAGES ARE LOW PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS FOR SUCH CANDIDATES.
FROM THE SIDE OF THE EMPLOYEE IT IS JOB SECURITY,CONSTANT PAY CHECK,EXPERIENCE.DISADVANTAGE WILL BE THE FEELING OF BEING TRAPPED.

in my point of view i think it depends
on the contract points itself

EMPLOYEE
Advantages : Secured Job, Ability to grow with efforts and dedication, entitlement of benefits as service is longer, better experience.
Disadvantages : Termination of Contract during tenure, To abide contract for5 years during downturn / booming period.
EMPLOYER
Advantage : competent employee for long period, cost effective, eliminate training & hiring cost for5 yrs.,
Disadvantage : None.
I would love to sign such a contract. Normally when u joinn a co u become a permanent emploee from6 months to1 year. Do u know any one who can offer such a contract.
Advantages for employers:
- It helps them define how far can they go with investing in developing the employee
- It helps the company with long term planning
- Save training time
- Have well skilled personnel
Disadvantages for Employer:
- If the employee seem not to have the desired qualities, they get stocked to him.
Advantages fro employee:
- Gives more certainty in a job
- Better chances to develop himself and get more experience
Disadvantages for employee:
- It will be difficult to look for better job somewhere else.
It depends on the T&C's of this contract for two parties
however, I see disadvantages is greater than advantages it must not be more than1 year renewable contract
