No its not good to be pushy, but relevant suggestions will sound professional
There is no necessity to be pushy. If a person who is suggesting a certain food is confident about the taste and quality of food, the customer automatically puts his confidence in the suggestion and would end up ordering the suggested food. It also depends on the personality of the person. As some people may not order certain food if the server is pushy, thinking may be the kitchen is trying to finish a stock of certain product, for example the dish of the day could potentially be used stock with is about to be expiring soon hence the server is being so pushy. Where as the case could be because a certain product might be on special because of seasonal availability. Example Fresh Artichoke soup. Hence its best to suggest without being pushy.
It is good to be pushy if customer is looking confuse or not clear in making a choice.
