What is the inadvertent protection in the power stations?

When machine at standstill or not synchronized with grid, if we close the Generator circuit breaker at this condition, the generator starts up with a high slip as an asynchronous machine. Thereby inadmissibly high currents are induced in the rotor which could destroy it. This protection is used enabled in the protection relay to avoid this condition.
