Finding motivated and competent people for roles that are suitable for them and avoiding bad recruits are the two key goals for both the employers and job seekers. Aptitude testing provides a tool for significantly increasing the likelihood of a successful recruitment. The purpose of Personnel’s aptitude tests is to determine the potential and suitability of a job seeker for a given role and operating environment and to predict how successful he or she would be in the position, and in this way support the client organization in making the selection. The aptitude test can also be carried out as a Competency Assessment to determine a person’s potential when a company is undergoing internal restructuring. Why aptitude tests? The multi-method and multi-level aptitude test is the most reliable tool available for predicting the success of a person in a specific role – the assessment is comparable and objective. Aptitude testing is an effective way to measure key competencies that are essential for a successful performance of duties but which are difficult to ascertain during a job interview. Aptitude testing provides wide-reaching information on a candidate’s level of motivation, ways of working, problem solving and learning skills, communication skills and management and leadership skills. This information can be further used in the training, motivating and management of the recruit. Aptitude tests and the feedback they provide serve as support material for the recruit’s career planning and professional development. Aptitude testing makes it easier to arrive at the recruitment decision and helps ensure it is the right one.

It's depending on how the aptitude tests are well done!

But generally the tests of aptitudes are covering many scopes of skills, this within scientific rules.

Any way with the prons & cons, the aptitude tests remain of much aid for talent assessment.
