However generally, Chief Accountant is hired for a specific company or work for a single business with subordinates to manage, whereas Senior Accountant is someone who has gained years of experience and may work for a company offering accounting services to other companies (e.g. Accounting firms, outsourcing, shared services, etc.) without subordinates.
