Managers aren't always around to motivate employees, usually its the team leader who motivates and pushes members to do their best. This was a pretty good article by Harvard Business Review:

https://hbr.org/2014/11/how-to-motivate-yourself-when-your-boss-doesnt

The team lead has to pinpoint each team member's intrinsic drivers and use those values to motivate the team, but also always rewarding the team members and providing incentives when possible. This could be as small as treating the team to lunch or going to bat to ensure timelines are fair and realistic for the members. When you are good to your team they are more likely to reciprocate with increased loyalty and productivity.

In short, lead by examples and rolls up your sleeves when the team needs you. Stand by with your teams side when they need your support and encouragement. Boost their morale and motivate regularly. Perfect ways to improve motivation and increase productivity at work place: 1. Give them the power to make decisions (Authority and flexibility at work). 2. Help them understand where their work fits into the bigger picture (Clear vision and mission). 3. Say “thank you,” publicly (Appreciation and recognition) 4. Treat your employees like they are adults (Respect and Trust) 5. Get money off of the table (Pay better than others)6. Get fear off the table (Remove insecurity)

Agree with the experts. The best and only way is to be a working part of the team. Appreciation should be public while reprimand if any should be done one-on-one and in private, unless the whole team needs it at once.

It's too broad since it must be. This crap is logical to such an extent that every one of the endeavors to reduce initiative down to an equation, set of qualities, or set of practices are seriously misinformed.

It's additionally worth underlining that a major piece of this comes from characterizing and articulating qualities, reason, and assumptions in each touchpoint from office - >employment. The tone is set path before individuals have their first day at work. I this regard I will suggest to once listen Fahad Khan, He also a good student and life coach. On the off chance that individuals are really arranged appropriately and working under the correct assumptions and suspicions, it makes all the other things significantly simpler.

1- Understand what motivates Each Employee. is it money & benefits? or is it praise & recognition?... Then implement motivation strategies accordingly.

2- Set clear & achievable targets making sure work goals align with employees work goals. This requires strategic planning and communication because you must let your employees know exactly what you expect from them.

3- Constant constructive feedback and create a fair system of incentives, rewards, and benefits that encourage employees to work hard.

Avoid!

1- Bombarding employees with constant tight deadlines and impossibly urgent requests on a consistent basis.

2- Showing favoritism or any kind of a personalized treatment that is not job-related.

3- Harping on mistakes & weaknesses, and exaggerating in disciplinary reactions against nonsevere actions.
