How can you estimate home construction costs?

I will try to summarize the process here (from a contractor POV): Simply: Materials, Manpower, Equipments, other expected fees and your overhead.
1- Prepare an MTO (Material Takeoff) tables.
(by calculating the quantities of the required materials from the drawings you have).
then you can estimate the cost of materials by multiplying the unit price X Quantity for each material.
2- By experience you can estimate the required duration, equipments and manpower for each activity.
then you can calculate the cost by multiplying the rental values or hourly rate X duration for each item.
3- There will be some extra fees like labors accommodations, food (if you are going to provide food for the labors), maintenance for the equipments, office work fees ..etc.
and other fees related to the project nature.
don't forget to add them also.
4- After you've done all your calculations don't forget to add an overhead (should be your profit) and it depends on you (say10% or15% ..
of total cost you've calculated) Hope you find it useful.

to find out rhe cost of construction of house you must follow the steps

1. Acquire Land

2. Design the house as per requirement.

3. Obtain detail Drawings.

4. Take item wise quantities i,e Excavation, CC Work, RCC work, Block/Brick Masonery, Plumbing Work, Electrical Work, Doors & Windows, Bath Room & Kitchen Appliances/ Fittings, Painting Enamel and oil Paint etc.Finishing items ( Floor tiles, Elevation , Walls , stair Case) 

5. prepare a detailed BOQ and multiply the quantities with prevailing market rates
