HVAC and BMS are two different services which are usually connected with each other.
HVAC is mainly concerned with maintaining the comfort environment in terms of temperature and humidity while BMS is the management system which can either monitor or control HVAC and many other services like Electrical, fire fighting and plumbing services through a computer interface or some other automatic mean.
Through BMS many service parameters are visible on computer like what is the temperature in which room or what is the level of water tank or which pump is not working having fault alarm etc. But BMS can run with lot of sensors and actuators without which BMS cannot run.
HVAC SYSTEM IS HEATING, VENTILATION & AIR CONDITIONING AND IT IS A MECHANICAL SYSTEM WHICH DESIGNED IN BUILDINGS AND MAY BE IT IS DESIGNED CENTRAL WHICH USE DUCTS , DIFUSSERS AND GRILLS OR BE INDIVIDUAL UNITS LIKE SPLITS AND WINDOS UNITS
BUT BMS IS A MONITORING AND CONTROL NOT MONITORING ONLY BECAUSE THIS JOB IS ABOUT SCADA AND ITS JOB IS CONTROLLING ALL SYSTEMS IN BUILDING LIKE FIRE ALARM , LIGHTING , HVAC ,CCTV,.....etc
NOW THERE IS A SYSTEM LIKE BMS BUT IS BETTER WHICH IS EIB SYSTEM
HVAC:
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, deals with system of creating comfortable conditions in the building premises by increasing or decreasing the temperature through Mechanical Equipment and other accessories.
BMS:
Building Management System which deals with control, parametric measurement and central control of all building facilities through one central station.
HVAC (Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning) system is one of the mechanical building services in a building whereas BMS (Building Management System) is an instrumentation system. HVAC system address the air quality & its movement for confined spaces & zones throughout the building whereas BMS addresses the monitoring & controlling of various parameters of building services including HVAC for efficient functioning.
