The Sources of Job stress can be categorized in the following ways:

1. Based on Job Characteristics:  Role Ambiguity--Role Conflict--Role Overload--Ethical dilemmas

2. Based on Inter personal Relationships: Contacts with co-workers-- contacts with inter departments

3. Based on Organizational Factors: Demand of the Task assigned--Demand of the job role--The satisfaction of performance--Organization's structure and leadership--Organizational climate--External factors over the organization that may affect job.

4. Based on Personal Factors: Career oriented--Geographical mobility--Balancing personal life and the career.

Thank you very much for all your excellent answers and response.

Occupational stress is stress involving work. According to the current World Health Organization's (WHO) definition, occupational or work-related stress "is the response people may have when presented with work demands and pressures that are not matched to their knowledge and abilities and which challenge their ability to cope.

1- lack of work / life balance.

2- extreme workload all the time not on intervals

3- Bad relation with managers

4- Managers who exercise any of the following: micromanagement - dictatorship - unfair  performance evaluation - creating tension and stress around the office by being angry all the time - no appreciation or rewards policy - lack of motivational strategy.

5- Feeling insecure ... like suspecting layoffs or company bad financial situation

I would stress some of the most typical job-stressors:

  • unrealistic deadlines and expectations, often as a result of super achievement by the most talented
  • lack of control over aspects of the job
  • aggressive management style
  • manager forever finding fault
  • excessive travel time
  • dull and repetitive work
