<h3><span>How can we get the steel quantity by thumb rule ? I know that it is1% for slab and2-3% for RCC column & beams. If I have10 Cum RCC work for column & beam then how can we get the steel quantity in kgm or Qntl.?</span></h3>
For slab We are using70kg of steel for1cum.
For RCC Beam & Column need2-3% steel, say2.5% steel. So, for10 cum RCC =10Ã2.5%=0.25 cum steel. =1962.5kgm. Steel. [I know1 cum steel=7850 kgm] For,1 cum RCC =1962.5/10=196.25 kgm. Steel. So, we are using196.25 kg steel for1 cum.RCC work in column & beam.
Depending on the building type and spans you use per floor28 to45 kg/m2. But that strongly depends on the floor span. Normally I determine the structural design of one floor and the bottom columns and take that up.

Frankly I am not hear about this issue before, I just believe that we can estimate precisely the amounts of steel when we get all diagrams that related with the structure which consists all of the details , dimensions and details of the reinforcements

I am QS from last nine years and I never got steel density of 70kg/cbm for slabs , it should be between 120 to 140 kg /cbm
