Hi Irshad,
Perfect answer from you !
I would like to add my view point to this answer also, suggestive selling is no doubt is a process to promote offer to purchase higher value products or added services for gaining more revenues.
But this is also a good tool for managers to increase their overall restaurant profitability from operations to sell premium higher value product and services by educating their specialties to Guests.
However, on the other hand suggestive selling is a value added sale which is customer oriented but at the same time this is also a very unique tool to promote/ offer and to upsell your holding inventories to reduce your operational cost and increase profitability.
Up selling is technique by which a waiter or the order taker tries to sell products to the customers which could add more value to the customers' order whereby generating more revenue for the restaurant and adding higher value to increase the per order percentage value.
and on the other hand Suggestive selling is when the order taker or a counter staff gives avalue added suggestion to the customers to include items to the customers original pruchase.
there is very thin line of difference between Up Selling and Suggestive Selling, Both are anyways intended to generate more revenue for the restaurant. we can sum in a line that : Suggestive selling is more customer oriented and up selling is more restaurant oriented
