Should we let PHP die?

PHP needs more than 50 years to die , almost all the web use php don't forget Facebook use php , even if they develop it and make sth new , but still its PHP :) any big company can do the same. For the needs of web applications today , try to read about YII, symphony , and CI you will find that Yii is strong very strong , capable of handle any modern issue. Company like Google ( they almost own the web ) use Paython . It's okay; php is not strong as Python but for the rest of companies / businesses, I think php is more than enough.

No i don't think so, PHP is a very powerful language with many features and advantages and its still improving, its not kind of language that will become old fashion or not used anymore. Tell now many of applications (web, mobile, etc..) build on it and still in progress. if PHP will die it will die with other languages if in future there was a replacement of building full website with write a single line of code or settings (which is sort of exist also these days).

The answer will come from your inner sense, for that ask a question yourself "should all springs. river, wells, oceans be banned and only bottled water should be allowed to drink for humanity?". I hope you got the right point.

I think that PHP will be a pure object-oriented language in the sense that every value is an object such as scala programming language.

It will take a long time to do so. PHP is still using in development. Most of the people prefer to use php for server scripting. According to me php is still powerful language.

Javascript doesn't belong there to begin with. The exact same question was asked when windows95 was released, most people started asking if Unix and Unix based operating systems should die, a few years later, most windows versions died, and OSX (which is a unix based OS) shined. PHP will never die, first: it's open source, second: it's easy to use, third: more than60% of the web uses PHP. Python and Ruby (Ruby only got popular after Ruby on Rails) are great, and modern, but there's something about PHP that takes your breath away, specially with the wide support you have almost everywhere, and the wide selection of frameworks, and not to mention CMSs including wordpress (which is eating the web now). A lot of the major sites use PHP, to name a few: Yahoo Wikipedia Facebook Digg and the list is long.

I think it will take a long time for PHP to get obsolete. With almost advancement on daily basis in CMS like Wordpress, Joomla , latest versions of shopping carts like ZEND CART, Magento, OSCommerce, Prestashop and almost a new or improved framework every couple of month, PHP seems to have a bright future. Almost more than50 to60 percent of web is occupied by PHP. I dont think so its dying. However, adding more features to it will certainly help it blossom more.

Even if you let it or force it.... It won't! Because the question is misleading to a  fast conclusion, The problem you see aren't caused by PHP itself, but  Its the limitation of the PHP frameworks available outside that don;t want to abandon backward compatibility or legacy style of coding... Its correct to say, that we should let the PHP frameworks go in time and be replaced by powerful PHP frameworks and technologies that support bidirectional technologies which is already happened, we just need to get better informed & updated. So the short answer is, PHP wont dies but frameworks should cope with the new advancement in PHP.
