If organized well, NO ONE will have constant pressure.
Unorganized work leads to all time pressure.
Hence in my opinion, NO ONE has all time pressure from above mentioned options.
My order would be from most to least pressure:
7. Customer service
3. Sales
5. Administration
6. Security
2. Production
4. Finance
1. Marketing
It can be ANY department or it can be NONE ....... depending upon the planning, time management & professionalism.
I fully agree with Mr. Raj Dahiya. For Ex: If you assume 'marketing' as continuous pressure job, how many people today (Like you Mr. Zafar)) are successful in marketing. how it is possible for people like you if it is continuous / Every time pressure.
I observed on many occasions the 'pressure' we face at times are not only related to the job. It is mostly some other factor( May be financial crisis, health issues, dear ones death etc) which creates pressure within us and leads to poor performance. low concentration etc.,for that moment and people are coming back to the normal to perform the job. I believe there is no continuous pressure for the jobs that is mentioned here, unless individual are working without passion towards the job.
Sales, because of monthly targets achievement...
When not adequately staffed or qualified persons are not occupying the right position Work pressure is a chronic decease in all areas in an organization; Otherwise work pressure is a challenge and happy to have it in the right spirit.
Every department functions with time pressure. If there is no time pressure then there is no need for a department as such. the pressure increases depending on the situation which can happen to any department at any unspecified time.
In my opion all have pressure ... sales to bring in customers ... customer service to keep the customer happy ... production to manufacture in time .. shipping to get it out in time to the customer... accounting and finance ... to get the funds and payments...
it is a circle which closes ... if one does not fall into place there are problems with getting the product out and that could mean a very upset customer...
The Customer service , then the sales to achieve the daily ,weakly ,monthly yearly target sale.
For me the most pressures are on sales & marketing department. They are the producers and the key to everyones hopes. Without them the rest of the departments will be paralized although I still believe of the team work. As the sales & marketing are producer of seeds the rest of the departments are the one cultivate.
This is difficult to answer because all departments are related and dependent. If sales work increases and more sales is generated, this will cause other department to work even more to fulfill customers needs. Production will work more to deliver on time, finance will work more and naturally customer service will work more. Also the more marketing does plans and campaigns, the more sales will work and hence the more administration, production and finance will work.
And from another perspective, customer service I believe are the ones who work a lot of hours most of the time because customers will always have questions, concerns, demands, complaints ... And if customer service works more and better it will reflect on more sales and hence the same cycle again.
So you can't really judge who works more, and the essence is who works better not more ....
Let me add one last point though, if the organization has a good Strategy in place and managers are executing the plan right then there should not be pressure. Pressure can be accept for a while but not all the time as you say. Pressure all the time is a sign for organizational failure.
