For DG set we useW- for Lube-oil for, Premium-blue coolant5:1 with DM water .
For Generator ISO VG Oil for Tubine Gearbox-Alternator-Exitor-PMG Set.( Operating Temperature- Degree Celcious.
For Cooling we use HYdrogen cooling system & for Air cooling system we use Water-Cooler
Sleeve bearings - Oil lubrication
Ball Bearings - Grease lubrication
Depending on the type of engine, main lube system will require either petrol or diesel engine oils. Also, based on the actual climate the unit is situated, the oil should be adaptable - either summer or winter-grade or even both at same time (multi-grades). But for guaranteed best results, be sure to follow the OEM's recommendation.

Grade of the lubricant is generally recommended by the OEM of the Generators. there are wide range of application of generators and in different climatic condition. The Lub oil grade is recommended generally based on considering the rpm of the prime mover and the ambient tempearture the generator is operating. And commercial availability of the Lub oil in the particular region of its operation.
we have tow types of lubricants , first is an oil for for bearings and all moving parts
second is grease for general maintenance
the first one is for the lubicant in the generator is grade 40 or grade 30 engine oil for the engine lubrication and if the engine is liquid cooled type the air cleaner will be filled with the grade 10 oil grade and the transfercase gearbox is filled with the grade 60 engine oil .

For Generators, the lubricant used belongs to API- group II base oil.
For Example,
For Diesel Genset: 15W-40, CI-4 (groupII base oil used).
For Petrol Genset: 20W-50, CI-4 lubricants used.
In addition to the above, the following key points should also be considered,,
TBN number.
Oxidation level.
Nitration level.
Metal wear resistance.
Additives used in lubricants enable to extended hours lubricants usage .
