Your question is an excellent one AbdulAziz because the ‘first look’ of a CV, i.e. the first impression is often decisive.
Research says that a recruiter spends anywhere between5-7 seconds scanning a CV and in those few seconds, here’s what attracts me to a CV:
- Format of the CV+ Language: Proper attention to detail, correct spelling and good grammar
- Achievements: Professional and personal achievements; mention awards, promotions, track records, etc.
- Education: Professional education or training; mention scholarships or GPA if possible
- Stability: Minimum of two years experience in any given role
At a glance, all of the above should clearly stand out in a CV. The CV is the first opportunity to impress a recruiter; build your CV in a way that it reflects who you are.
To initially grab a recruiter's attention, the layout of the CV should be comfortable to read. Which means using proper standard colors, standard font, a presentable profile picture and an attractive cover letter. In my opinion, the cover letter is the most important part of any CV, this is what encourages the reader to proceed with reading the rest of the CV.
The CV should not contain grammatical mistakes. Keeping the recruiter in a comfortable flow of reading is important to get him/her to read throughout your CV and reach to important sections such as your experience and skills.
You need to focus more on selling yourself by providing your skills in the right way. Using too many pages could result the recruiter to get bored and lazy. Be smart with making it short, to the point and understandable. Too much of anything is bad.
