Being a manager means being a leader of the team who understands both managements requirements and employee needs my first priority is to increase and sustain happy employee ratios not by approving or accepting all their requests but by making them understand and realize how important their role is the overall organizations development and giving them a sneak peak through the process in dissension making process so they work more responsibly.
Managers have to stimulate efficiency and enhance productivity. In management every action involved has a cost to it to meet their respective targets. Directly or indirectly all managers are revenue driven. Either generates more revenue or controls cost to make the bottom line viable. Thus everything revolves around MONEY and attracts top priority towards REVENUE.
My first priority would be my Team. I keep them happy , vice-verse they keep me happy by exceeding expectations though performance.
The personal rapport you have with the team in today's world plays a very important role. The second would be employee engagement. Make sure they understand how important their role is for the company to be successful.
The third would be the company's policies & procedures. Make sure that even though your team has a good rapport , its not use it to bend the policies.
Fourth would be appreciating them for a job well done, no matter how small the job is. Good work should never go unappreciated.
Fifth is to keep delegating important work , because a manager is not the one who does the work but the one who delegates the work in a professional way and gets it done .
Final in my list is provide them opportunities, like through learning & development and make sure you are a fun guy to work with.
