Definitely yes. Its true that its women who give birth to child but during the first weeks following childbirth, a woman needs the support of her husband. In some other countries, men are given1 full month but in my country, men are given5 weekdays paternity leave following each childbirth and the mother should be the legal wife.

Yes, I personally think that having a new born around is a beautiful new addition and an extremely hectic situation in the first week. So fathers need to be around in order to help the mom set the routine. There is some paper work and certain tests that need to be done after birth, so having a paternity leave makes it easier to have everything settled.

Yes, Men should definitely get Paternity leaves from their Organization - I completely agree with Inshirah, Erika, Pradeep on their inputs.
I found that the Paternity leave concept/policy originated in many IT and Manufacturing companies globally to ensure that both parents could witness and enjoy this beautiful event and experience.
In India, many companies have inculcated this as a policy to encourage the Work-Life Balance.
Yes they should, I had this experience before when I had to stay for some days beside my wife after delivery of a second child in a country where no relative is there to take care of her or of the first child. In the Arab countries the society and employers understand this humanitarian necessity and the employer may allow you to get some days but from the balance of your annual leave or as emergency leave. It is not called '' paternity leave'' despite its purposes because it only linked under the law with women rather than the men. There are some religious and historical backgrounds for this sort of discrimination which is seen as natural one in the past where a pregnant lady is expected to get the help of her mothers or sisters or even close female friends upon the delivery rather than her husband in such cases, and the husband is supposed or presumed to be ignorant of ladies and children's affairs and he should only work outside the house to earn the family living.
YES child's birth is a very emotional moment for both parents. While wife is carrying the child and is in pain there can be only one person who can comfort her the most that is her husband. The health and immunity of the child depends upon the health of the mother and how happy she is particularly around the time of delivery .We in our company allow two weeks adjustable paid paternity leave to men as they are mentally not present at work during one week pre and one post delivery and try to make reasons to return home as early as possible, make150 phone calls to their wife during the day. They are hardly present at work. So better allow them to enjoy the happiness100%.
