The most common meaning associated with "middle-class" seems to be related to the level of income and standard of living. Between the poor and the rich, middle-class seems to be the dominant majority between these two extremes in statistics terms. However, there seems to be other associations with the term "middle-class" that has to do with the position in the society and possibly level of education and culture.
