How do you get a job as a designer without going to design school?

 

Stop doubting, just do you job and focus on your portfolio:

I'm not a designer! Anyhow if we can take the issue from an H.R. measure, I can say that if you need to get a designer job you should demonstrate professional skills in the field - may be during an interview. I saw a number of designers who did not go to design schools; yet they can manage the issue through practical skills they gained through self-learning and experience.

Basically you can work anything withought go to school, even a Doctor.100 years ago people were went to wizard if they are sick. now absolutely you can not do that because you know there is a specialist in Medicines.

Graphic Design required studey to cover all aspect of design: Branding, Typography, Grid System...etc

study could be1 hour (self study) to4 years (Bachelor). so if you are professional it dose mean you studied alot and you are not amateur.

anyone can do anything its a matter of interest. passion and dedication. Going to school means like father holding baby's hand and made him practise safely. without support many more falling lying same as schooling makes feel easy and good support without schooling can go but need more straingth and will. any way there is no matter schooling or not schooling - where is a will there is away. thanks ;D

If you mean that you have not studied design but you want to get a job as designer, so you should:

1. Learn the job basics (many programs and software are available about that).

2. Build some experience by starting doing some design work  after you learn the principle (even as volunteer).

3. keep train yourself till you really had a strong knowledge.

 

 

You must study by yourself, like Tadao Ando became a famous architec without graduation! Discipline and will!power

First, the designer is a skill and rely on common sense more than a study, but the study is the catalyst helps a person to take advantage of the information and the basics of the profession

 

A real designer never needs to go to school as it comes naturally. Its a creative job and gift by god  so not necessary he should have gone to school, but if he has then its added advantage

by practicing on them, you'll become - in shallah - a big designer. 

A great portfolio, designing passion, struggling behaviour, creative eye and creativity is enough to get a Graphic Designer job. Going to designing school and have a degree is a plus point but not compulsory.
