Today, a person's attention span is very low and readers have become audiences. Thanks to websites like YouTube. Blogging scripted audio/video tends to produce more virality then a text based blog.
Based on this, podcasting is an essential addon to a blog. Specially, if bloggers are looking for a bigger audience in a short span of time like events, conferences and sudden instances.
My suggestion to the Bayt community is to build a presence on SouncCloud and then there is YouTube.
