How can we encourage the students to improve English language skill through their cell phones?

Cell phones are already doing a lot to make their users learn English. A learner can utilise it in many ways to learn English and more prospects are being emerged for the future generations.

I think we can do this by encouraging them to chat in English language through the whats App or the other chatting social media, and may be even add them as friends in our chatting media and encourage them to write full sentences instead of the short forms they used to write in. We as teachers can also recommend some of the useful language Apps for them to downloud. 

Understanding the Settings menu in English is surprisingly helpful.

I would say this would be possible if we can deal with the cellphone as an instructional medium: connect through the cellphone to the educational platforms on the web and make use of them. In this way, the cellphone is used as a communication medium to reach e-learning platforms, and would be useful to encourage others who want to improve language or other skills to follow this process.

There are really nice interactive language learning apps like "Duolingo" where they can learn while playing and collecting points.

By making groups in whatsapp that speak and chat only in English.

tell them think in the target language &forget about the grammatical mistakes,mind with in born capability helps to readjust.

Are there any smart phone applications for that ?

I thing, the first thing is to invite them to put their phone language setting in English instead of their native language. In addition, they can use some of the apps and games that can downloaded onto the smart phones both for chatting (WhatsApp, MSN) and having fun (hangman game and other word game)…
