The name primary, secondary amine and tertiary makes reference among atom of carbon bound to the atom of nitrogen.

The general formula of one amine can spell NR1R2R3.· if R1 = R2 = H and R3 H,  amine is said primary.· if  R1= H and R2 H and R3 H, the amide is said secondary.· if  R1 H and R2 H and R3 H, the amide is said tertiary.

The primary amine forms when only one of the hydrogen atoms in the ammonia molecule has been replaced by hydrocarbon groups.
While In a secondary amine, two of the hydrogen atoms in an ammonia molecule have been replaced by hydrocarbon groups., When all of the hydrogen atoms in an ammonia molecule have been replaced by hydrocarbon groups, it became tertiary amine

1ry amine: is a function group contain NH2 attached to one C-atom (EX- R--- CH2--NH2) and2ry amine : is a function group contain NH attached two C-atoms ( EX- R---CH2--NH--CH2----) and3ry amine : is a function group contain N attached to three C-atoms ( EX- R-- CH2--N--(CH2)2 ) thanks

It depends on the number and position of the amino group attached to either aromatic or aliphatic groups.

Primary amines - Primary amines arise when one of three hydrogen atoms in ammonia is replaced by an alkyl or aromatic.
Important primary alkyl amines include methylamine, ethanolamine (2-aminoethanol), and the buffering agent tris, while primary aromatic amines include aniline.
Secondary amines - Secondary amines have two organic substituents (alkyl, aryl or both) bound to N together with one hydrogen (or no hydrogen if one of the substituent bonds is double).
Important representatives include dimethylamine and methylethanolamine, while an example of an aromatic amine would be diphenylamine.
Tertiary amines - In tertiary amines, all three hydrogen atoms are replaced by organic substituents.
Examples include trimethylamine, which has a distinctively fishy smell or triphenylamine.

Common desulfurizing agents are classified as primary amine, secondary amine and tertiary amine by the number of carbon atoms connected to N atom.
Monoethanolamine ( MEA ) and diglycolamine (DGA) are prime amine .
Diethanolamine (DEA) and Diisopropanolamine (DIPA) are secondary amines.
Triethanolamine (TEA) and N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) are tertiary amine.
