The reason why people are rejected for software engineering jobs at the big companies is, almost always, interview performance. You might have given correct answers to all the questions you were asked, but your answers weren't optimal enough, your coding was sloppy, or -- most likely of all -- it took you too long to get that solution.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to know after an interview if you did well or not. You might think you answered pretty quickly, but you have no idea how quickly other candidates answered that question.

Doing well enough to get an offer means outperforming75 -90% of candidates on that question. You think you did "well," but you just don't have the data to say that you did or didn't outperform the vast majority of candidates.

So no, it's not your resume, GPA, prior experience, citizenship, graduation date, or any of those things. Those items can make a difference in getting an interview, but they rarely impact your offer decision.

It's also probably not that they interviewed someone else who was better, at least not at big companies and particularly not if you're having this problem repeatedly. If you were that great, they'd probably find another spot for you in the unlikely chance that an exceptional candidate came their way at just the right time. Plus, a lot of those companies don't even hire for specific spots for new grads. They have many spots open, and they hire basically everyone that's good enough that comes their way.

This doesn't mean you're not good enough, but it does mean that you didn't perform well enough in the interview.

So there you have it. That's the truth. You may have done well, but you didn't do well

Probably their expectations and the competition is too high. May be you need to focus more on what their requirements would be.

You should prove to them that they need you. Try hacking their firewall and telling them its weak. :D

They will hire you as their Technical Security Staff.

Such issue (doing well in the interview but fail to be hired) could have many reasons. But let me briefly focus on the main ones:

1. Interview includes many standards to be successful, and if you get for example7/10, some others may get8 or9, therefore you will not get the job.

2. Interviewer should be always nice and friendly during and after interview, so you may think that the interview was good because the interviewer was nice, but it could happened something wrong during the interview.

3. Interview is about to discover your skills and personality, and your skills and knnowledge could be "Good" but some others interviewees may have "Very Good" background.

Recruitment point of view, they will evaluate360 like

  1. Your experience
  2. Your communication
  3. Your Education
  4. Your interview performace
  5. Your past history, reference, releaving reasons from employers
  6. Attitude and behaviour

Finally, they will evaluate if everything match for existing position then only release the offer letter. This is my point of view.

Is likely to be one of the following reasons:

Establish an employee

There is a certain goal with the administration looking for someone different from other technical specifications

Strong competition

Thanks for the invite,

The question is: doing "what" well at the interview. Maybe you used to focus on qualifications and work skills, which is not the whole issue when talking about an interview.

Yes, the interview is for work, yet it includes many aspects more than only qualifications and work skills.

You need to arrange and fully prepare your self for any interview; this starts with your proper appearance besides other issues that we can not enumerate in this limited space for the answer.

Same like chess!

Think like an opponent!

How would you evaluate yourself, if you want to hire a techie for your company?

Moreover - be simple!

when APPLE tried to compete with IBM, the IBM's logo was 'think'; then APPLE created a logo" Think differently"
