Undoubtedly thorough co-ordination that requires a joint effort by all technical expertise. In addition, the building services shall be given priority as per their functions & recommendation as per codes. Good co-ordination of building services reflects in the efficient functioning & immensely proves to be a boon for the contractor during the execution stage. It also ease the maintenance team to identify each services in troubleshooting & regular services.
all obstacles can be summarized in one sentence, poor design, coordination and construction and I would stress design and coordination is the key source
The most common obstacles are the following:
1. Contractor that installs fire protection systems with less or none knowledge of the codes and standards.
2. Contractor that uses not listed components, such fire pumps, deluge valves, and others.
3. Bad procedures of inspection and maintenance, wich is the most common trouble in companies that don't given due importance to such systems.
4. The assignment of budget in the planning of the annual activities of maintenance in the company is bad or en several cases don't exists.
Respecting to the installation, I must say that the major trouble or obstacle is related to te contractor that install the system, no other. Problems such inexperience, irresponsibility, not listed parts (pumps, deluge valves, OS&Y valves, pump engine) or not certified, poor quality materials, such piping, fittings, coatings, bolts, nuts... I could stay until tomorrow listing the reasons and I couldn't finish. So, my recomendation is to check the qualifications and experience of the contractor/installer, as well as the satisfaction level of previous customers, and then you could to take a better decision.
