A good manager approaches this situation in a different manner. He asks questions rather than giving orders. Answers to those questions actually lead to 'My way' i.e. 'Manager's way'. its just the matter of approaching with an attitude.
It would be quite an irresponsible, bullying manager to say such a thing.
It would also have to be a manager who owned his own company and there was no HR dept. No-one else to turn to and no other way of recourse.
Dependent on what the situation was you could do two things.1. Go the manager's way which would give you some time in which to find another job.2,.If you are sure of your next step and can cope financially take the highway and leave with your dignity and integrity held high.

in working world there are two rules
Rule No. 1- The Boss is always right
Rule No. 2- If the Boss is wrong, READ rule no.1
always should be the manager way
If his way is tough but according to the policies of the mother company and he is not breaking any regulation I am fine with him, if not I will simply find another job.
