How can we develop the creativity of engineering students?

As creativity is very important for developing a new product. The design by imitation has its own handicap. to develop a unique product, the designer should have creative idea. Most of the student, they do think logically and act logically. what i mean is what are the techniques to develop the creative idea in the class room while doing exercise on this subject
