Although social media is an essential tool of marketing and advertising, its not included in the marketing Mix (4ps: Place, Price, Product, Promotion), do we need a new theory for marketing?
4P's still do apply to social media marketing, because4Ps is a marketing theory which can be applied to any medium in which social media in included. Social Media is just the latest trend of marketing medium, maybe after2 years there will be a new one. To finalized everything theories are always applicable to any form of subject it was designed for, we just need to adjust small tweaking to make it run.
I think the advent of Online Marketing (and social media as its sub domain) has indeed changed the marketing dynamics. But nevertheless the4Ps still stand albiet their application and modalities have changed with a pre-dominant emphasis on digital marketing.
