It is not the choice of the Guest Service Officer but the choice of the Guest. The management tries best to satisfy the customer.
TO BULT GUESTS RELATIONSHIP,TO KNOW MORE GUEST"EXPECTATION ,AND TO KNOW MORE OUR REAL SERVICE QUALITY STANDARDS,AND TO MAKE GUEST FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE AND WELCOMED
They are allowed to have a meal with guest in the Hotel Main Restaurant for they are the one who will entertain the guests and will make them feel at home. Aside for the reason that they should be immediately reachable for the guest may have other needs and request.
MY CONCLUSSIONS IS THAT WHAT OR WATEVER THEIR NEEDS HE/SHE CAN EASILY ASSIST OR GIVE AS POSSIBLE.
The Guest Service Officer should always attentive to the guests needs, make sure everything is ok and not only did he do this in the restaurant but would also go to the pool and ask all guests if everything was good.
To build the trust of the guest that the food is safe and also to make them comfortable at the hotel
Because, the customer, should feel happy, some one is there, to here the problems, faced by them and to solve it.
