First of all you need to know what you want to achieve and depending on that you or a specialized trainer will organized your weekly program which can be very varied in conformity with your purposes. You can train with weights ( anaerobic training ), correct your posture or increase mobility an coordination , do cardio training etc.
Secondly you need to decide how much time you want to assign to this activity weekly and I think the lowest frequency is at least2 training sessions a week and ideal is4 to5 days a week alternating intensity and volume of the training.
It depends on what your goals are firstly ,secondly you need to eat healthy because just going to gym and not eating right is a killer. But rule of thumb is about3 to4 times weekly with one day only for the tread mill
