Yes, MS Excel allows two lookup methods :

1- VLOOKUP

2- INDEX-MATCH

Vlookup is more common but has a lot of limitations.. like the data should be organized in a set format ....look up values should be in the right position and so on.

A more reliable formula is therefore the INDEX and MATCH function which gives you more options and moreover.....the references do not change if all there is a change of format in your main data tables.

Yes, it is possible to make values of h-lookup or v-lookup search among two table arrays or more.

The use of the excel sheet of V-LOOKUP and H-LOOKUP explains the functions and how to use them in a spreadsheet. It can be used in all versions of Microsoft Excel.

V-LOOKUP and H-LOOKUP are functions in Excel that allow you to search a table of data and based on what the user has supplied and give appropriate information from that table.

If you have a table of Student ID numbers, Student Names and Grades, you can set up Excel so that if a Student ID number is supplied by the user, it will look through the table and output the student's name and grade.

VLOOKUP Table

VLOOKUP Example

*V-LOOKUP allows you to search a table that is set up vertically. That is, all of the data is set up in columns and each column is responsible for one kind of data. In the Student Record example, there would be a separate column of data for Student Names, one for Student ID numbers, etc.

*H-LOOKUP is the exact same function, but looks up data that has been formatted by rows instead of columns.   Just a piece I can share...................
