I suggest you carefully plan your lessons to make sure that you cover all the important ideas. Readingrockets.org offers excellent lessons, which demonstrate the different types of syllables and provides lots of examples. Another great way to make sure that students master syllables is to encourage them to come up with their own examples :)
Although there are several ways suggested by the experts to learn spellings of words having many syllables but I prefer phonological segmentation. I found it easier to apply and perfect in performance even for the young kids.
I think we need to cut the words into syllables and ask the students to repeat until they fully master the correct pronunciation of the word or words being taught
